Speculator Fly In

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPECULATOR FLY IN WILL NOT BE HELD THIS YEAR (2008).

SPECULATOR, NY (February 13, 2008) The Annual June Fly In event in Speculator will not be held this year.

The Adirondacks Speculator Region Chamber of Commerce and the Annual Fly In committee have completed a review of the future viability of this long time Fly In and regretfully determined that it can not sponsor the event in 2008.

Many factors have contributed to this decision. Pilot attendance has continued to decline each year, available funding is much more limited than in previous years, and critical support from participating organizations such as the FAA and Seaplane Pilots Association has diminished.

The committee would like to thank everyone who supported this event for the more than 30 years it has been held in Speculator and is hopeful that a resumption of the event in future years will be possible.

The Speculator Region welcomes pilots and their planes to our area. Whether you fly in for the day or stay with us overnight, you'll find it hard to leave!

Airport Information

Unicom 122.8 is used for Piseco Airport and seaplane operations in the area.

Standard Traffic for Piseco is Left Traffic Runway 22 and Right Traffic for Runway 4. Those using Oxbow Lake please stay south of this lake and to the east clear of the Piseco area.

Fuel

Fuel is available during Piseco Airport's operating hours. Fuel requests for floatplanes can be made at the Information Center located in the Chamber of Commerce office at the Four Corners in Speculator.
